Article

We will try to treat briefly a subject that seems to be quite vast. Our intention is not to exhaust either the subject or the audience of this Conference, for which we warmly thank Professor Axinia Dzurova for her kind invitation. Our topic is part of a research project entrusted to us by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. It concerns the contents of the manuscript codices of the Monastery of St. John Prodromos of Serres, which are, obviously, extremely important for the history of Serres and the wider area, and since many years preserved in the Center Dujcev. The learned monk Christophoros Demetriades, in his exquisite book on this Monastery Προσκυνητάριον της παρά τας Σέρρας Ιεράς Σταυροπηγιακής και Πατριαρχικής Μονής του τιμίου Προδρόμου", published in 1904], has described the contents of the archives and the inscriptions existing at the Monastery at the beginning of the twentieth century. We' have the information that a new edition of this valuable book is under way.
