| dc.description.abstract | The introduction of social media into everyday life has created a new type of addiction for many people. Social media addiction is now discussed much more seriously, as its impact on daily functioning is becoming clearer. In particular, the use of platforms such as Instagram has been linked to addictive patterns and, in some cases, features associated with narcissistic personality traits (Casale & Banchi, 2020). Addiction in general has been an issue in Western societies for years and continues to be a major concern. People now face different forms of addiction, ranging from substance abuse and gambling to sexual addiction, and more recently, social media addiction. With social media being part of people’s routines, its addictive qualities have become more noticeable. Instagram is one of the most frequently used platforms, along with Facebook, Twitter, and TikTok. Social media is especially common among individuals aged 18–30, who use these platforms mostly to share photos and videos, message, and engage with likes and followers. Because of this widespread use, it is important to examine what factors may increase the likelihood of developing addictive patterns of social media use. The main focus of this topic is to understand how social media addiction may relate to resilience, borderline personality disorder traits, and anxiety. | |
